According to The Hollywood Reporter, a middle-grade novel is in the works based on the Disney's original film TANGLED and its sequel TANGLED EVER AFTER. The story will be set sometime between the two. Disney Press has signed young adult author Leila Howland to pen the project.
The original Tangled film, a unique take on the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale Rapunzel , featured the voices of Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi. The animated film hit theaters in 2010 and grossed $541 million worldwide.
The short film sequel "Tangled Ever After" debuted in 2012. A new TV series based on the story will hit the airwaves in 2017 and will feature
THE VOICE talents of Jeffrey Tambor, Ashley Judd and Richard King, in addition to Moore and Levi.
Rowland is the author of many previous YA novels, including the Nantucket Blue, Nantucket Red and Silver Sisters series. Hello Sunshine, about a prep school girl whose college rejections lead her to pursue an acting career, will be published in July of next year.
