Neil Patrick Harris to Host 2013 TONY AWARDS?

According to The New York Daily News, Neil Patrick Harris is set to return as host of the 2013 Tony Awards, airing Sunday June 9 on CBS.

A source revealed to The News theater critic Joe Dziemianowicz, "NPH is hosting again. David Burtka is blabbing it everywhere."

Adding to the speculation is the recent appearance by Harris at a host of current Broadway shows. According to one Tony insider, the actor has "quietly been making the rounds of shows." He was recently spottEd Checking out the new musical "Cinderella" and the Alan Cumming-led play "Macbeth."

No official announcement has been made at this time. A spokesperson for Harris did not respond to a request for comment, while a rep for the Tonys offered, "no comment".

Harris has hosted the annual awards ceremony three times, in 2009 as well as the last two years. Equally successful on stage and screen, the actor can currently be seen as Barney Stinson in the hit CBS comedy series, "How I Met Your Mother," a role which recently garnered him a 2009 Golden Globe nomination and two consecutive Emmy Award nominations.

From his film debut opposite Whoopi Goldberg in Clara's Heart and his seminal role as the beloved titular character in "Doogie Howser, M.D.," to his recent turn in Joss Whedon's online sensation, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Harris has enjoyed a successful career spanning more than twenty years in the industry. Among his many theatrical credits include the dual role of The Balladeer/Lee Harvey Oswald in the Tony Award-winning production of Assassins, as well as acclaimed performances in the Broadway productions of Cabaret and Proof.
