National Radio Theater Founder Yuri Rasovsky Dies at Age 67

By:

National Radio Theater founder Yuri Rasovsky passed away from esophageal cancer on Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Rasovsky worked professionally in theater and broadcasting as actor, writer, director and producer since 1970. He founded the National Radio Theater (1972-1987), and created hundreds of radio productions heard on commercial and public radio outlets around the world.

"He was a great and generous teacher," actress Sandra Oh told the Sun-Times. "Most people who worked for Yuri would have worked for him for free because it is so much fun," added actor Meshach Taylor.

Rasovsky also worked as a columnist, reviewer, cartoonist and humorist. A longtime resident of Chicago where he was affiliated with prestigious fine arts station WFMT, he resided in Los Angeles with his partner, actress Lorna Raver.
