Nashville Symphony Announces New Directors & Officers

The Nashville Symphony today announced new members for its 2009/10 Board of Directors, including Tennessee Titans kicker Rob Bironas, whose Rob Bironas Fund is partnering with the Symphony to provide music education to the children of Nashville. The Board has also elected two new officers. NoTed Nashville attorney James C. Gooch was elected as Chairman, while SunTrust Chairman, President and CEO Robert E. McNeilly III was chosen as Chairman-Elect, both for two-year terms effective immediately.

At last month's annual meeting, twelve new Directors were elected to the Symphony Board, with each to serve a three-year term. The new Directors, in addition to Bironas, are Scott Becker of Nissan North America, Inc.; William H. Braddy III of U.S. Trust; Kathleen R. Guion of Dollar General; Lee Ann Ingram; attorney Elliott Jones; Zach Liff of DZL Management; Greg Morton of AT&T; Doyle Rippee of First Tennessee Bank; consultant Louis B. Todd; Bill Wilson of Cherokee Equity; and Shirley Zeitlin of Zeitlin & Co. Realtors.

"Through the years, the Symphony's Board of Directors has developed and maintained a vision for the Symphony which values the highest quality of music-making and a strong dedication to serving the Nashville community," said Alan D. Valentine, President and CEO of the Nashville Symphony. "We at the Symphony look forward to working in close partnership with our Board and new Board leadership to continue and improve upon that vision and to help lead the Symphony forward."

Gooch, the Board's newly elected chairman, is a long-time attorney with the Nashville firm of Bass, Berry & Sims. "The Nashville Symphony is recognized far and wide as a leading cultural institution with an impressive agenda for artistic growth, educational outreach and community engagement," Gooch said. "I am truly honored to have the opportunity to serve the Symphony and the Nashville community as Board Chairman."
