Nash's THE RAINMAKER Comes To The Foothills Theater 2/7-3/1
By: Gabrielle Sierra
The Rainmaker, a classic romantic comedy, written by N. Richard Nash, about a drought, a con artist, and a country girlis coming to Foothills Theatre February 7- March 1, 2009.
As a paralyzing drought holds the West in its spell, a father and his two sons lose hope that the only female in the home, plain, 'old-maid' Lizzie, will ever find a husband. Into their parched lives comes a colorful and picaresque 'rainmaker' who claims he can make the skies pour down water...for a fee. What follows is a gem of a romantic comedy as the rainmaker turns his magic on Lizzie and convinces her of her own special beauty. Christopher Webb makes his return to Foothills Theatre to direct The Rainmaker. This marks Christopher Webb's Foothills Theatre directing debut having previously appeared on the Foothills' stage as an actor in As Bees in Honey Drown and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged. The Rainmaker cast includes Jens Hinrichson as the Sheriif, Gabriel Kuttner as Starbuck, Jonathan Popp as Jimmy, Dan Roach as Noah, and Dennis Trainor Jr. as File. Returning to the Foothills stage is Jessica Webb (A Streetcar Named Desire, Witness for the Prosecution) as Lizzie, and Barry Press (Moonlight and Magnolias, It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, A Christmas Carol, Tuesdays with Morrie, Dial M for Murder, The Odd Couple and The Sisters Rosensweig) as H.C.
