The New York Times has just revealed details of the new safety plan for SPIDER-MAN. "Under the new plan, one offstage crew member will attach the harness and related cables, wires, or tethers to the actors, and a second stagehand will verify that the attachments are made. That second stagehand will then verbally notify a stage manager that the attachment is safely connected. The actor will also verify that the attachment is made. Previously, only one stagehand made the attachment; there was no second stagehand to verify or communicate with the stage manager, and the actor was not required to check his harness."

Also, the NY Post has added that "Among the new safety procedures being put in place are the requirement that a second stage hand check that a harness is secured and then notify the stage manager; a landing pad has to be placed on stage for actors that leap into the air; and a rule that cast members waiting to be harnessed for aerial stunts have to be kept away from moving objects that could cause injuries."

A little while ago, the following statement from Rick Miramontez, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark spokesperson has was just released:

"SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the New York State Department of Labor have agreed on the implementation of additional protocols which will be rehearsed today and this evening. As such, tonight's performance of SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark has been cancelled. Performances will resume tomorrow evening (Thursday)."

Ticket holders for the cancelled performance who purchased their tickets through Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded. Customers may contact Ticketmaster to purchase tickets for another performance at the same price with similar locations.

Ticket holders from the Wednesday, December 22 evening performance who purchased their tickets through Ticketmaster will be contacted directly and given the ability to book tickets for a future performance at no cost or receive a full refund.

Customers who purchased tickets for either performance through other sales outlets must contact their point of purchase.

Tickets purchased at the box office may be brought back to the box office during the hours of 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday; Sunday 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. to be exchanged or refunded.
