The New York Philharmonic's free Concerts in the Parks, Presented by Didi and Oscar Schafer, will return to the boroughs of New York City on July 11-17, 2012. Conductors, repertoire, and specific locations will be announced next season.

As previously announced, the Concerts in the Parks will not be performed in the summer of 2011 due to the scheduling impact of pre-season planned events by the Philharmonic in September. These include A Concert for New York - a free performance of Mahler's Symphony No. 2, Resurrection - on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. in Avery Fisher Hall - on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001.

This concert is generously underwritten by Credit Suisse, the exclusive Global Sponsor of the New York Philharmonic, with additional support provided by Didi and Oscar Schafer, Alec Baldwin, and Antonio and Gabriela Quintella. On Thursday, September 15, 2011, also as previously announced, the New York Philharmonic will perform a free concert in Central Park with tenor Andrea Bocelli. Tickets to this event are available at www.bocellicentralpark.com.

Additionally, on September 7-8, 2011, the New York Philharmonic will screen the Oscar-winning MGM film West Side Story, with Leonard Bernstein's score performed live by the Orchestra, using a technology that isolates the vocal and dialogue tracks. And on Saturday, September 17, Christopher Plummer will narrate Henry V: A Shakespeare Scenario, with the Orchestra performing Sir William Walton's score for the Laurence Olivier film of Shakespeare's Henry V; the program also includes the Overture and Bacchanale from Wagner's Tannhäuser.
