North Toronto Players proudly presents Gilbert & Sullivan's Iolanthe or The Fairy and The Federalist at The City Playhouse in Vaughan

North Toronto Players does it again! A traditional G&S with a twist! Yes, the community theatre in its 43rd year that brought you HMS Starship Pinafore is back! This time it's set in Ottawa, where the fairies are falling in love with the feds! Iolanthe returns from the bottom of a stream, where she had been for the last 25 years, banished by The Fairy Queen for marrying a mortal. But Iolanthe didn't wash up on the banks of the Rideau alone. She comes with her half-mortal son, Strephon. In no time at all, he's living The Life of a working Joe in Gatineau and is in love with Phyllis who works at a Tim Horton's. Unfortunately, the Justice Minister and all the Senators have a thing for Phyllis, and we've got some love competition. Then there's the curse the Fairy Queen puts on the Canadian Senate, the fact that Phyllis thinks Iolanthe and Strephon are an item, and that the fairies are now kanoodling with the Senators as if they were hockey players!

With a live orchestra, Michael Harms' clever direction, and tight musical direction by John Ricciardelli you won't want to miss this fun, modern adaptation of a classic, family musical!
