Paper Mill Playhouse previously announced a ticket lottery for the final dress rehearsal of Newsies. Those lucky enough to win will be the first audience to see the premiere of this new stage musical. Newsies' extremely limited run is the culmination of a development process to create a stage adaptation of the cult film classic that is one of the most requested titles from Disney's license partners in North America. The ticket lottery will be held this afternoon, September 13 at noon; the final dress rehearsal is tomorrow evening, September 14 at 8:00PM.
50 entrants will be randomly selected to each receive two (2) passes to the Newsies dress rehearsal at 8pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Entries will be accepted at the stage door of the New Amsterdam Theatre, 219 West 41st Street beginning at noon on Tuesday, September 13, 2011; 30 minutes later, at 12:30pm, names will be drawn at random until all reservations are distributed. Winners must be present at the time of the drawing and show valid ID to retrieve entry at the theatre. Limit one entry per person and two passes per winner. All seating will be general admission in the mezzanine. Entry to the dress rehearsal has no cash value and cannot be exchanged for another performance.

Newsies is inspired by the real life ‘Newsboy Strike of 1899,' when newsboy Kid Blink led the ragged orphans and runaways known as newsies on a two-week-long action against Joseph Pulitzer,
William Randolph Hearst and other powerful newspaper publishers. Set in New York City at the turn of the century, the musical is the tale of newsie
Jack Kelly, who dreams of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when Pulitzer and Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsies' expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies his army of newsies to strike.
