NEWSIES Star Jeremy Jordan Guests on THE VIEW Tomorrow

Jeremy Jordan, who stars as Jack Kelly in Newsies on Broadway, will sit down with the co-hosts of the ABC daytime television program "The View" Tuesday, March 13^th. "The View" airs live from 11:00a.m. – 12:00p.m. EST on ABC. Tuesday marks Jordan's second appearance on "The View;" he and the cast of Newsies debuted two songs from the show while it was at Paper Mill Playhouse, an appearance that was instrumental in the show's eventual Broadway transfer.

After a critically acclaimed performance as Jack Kelly at the Paper Mill Playhouse, Jeremy Jordan returns to Broadway as the charismatic leader of the Newsies. He recently starred opposite Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah in the gospel hit, Joyful Noise, and also starred as Clyde Barrow in Bonnie and Clyde on Broadway. Other Broadway: West Side Story (Tony) and Rock of Ages. You can hear him on the soundtracks of Joyful Noise and Bonnie and Clyde. Jordan holds a BFA from Ithaca College. 

Newsies, the new American musical, will play Broadway's Nederlander Theatre (208 W 41^st St) for a limited run following its critically-hailed stint at Paper Mill Playhouse last fall.  The musical, featuring music by eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Sister Act), lyrics by Jack Feldman and a book by four-time Tony® Award winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy), will play its first Broadway preview on March 15^th prior to its March 29^th opening night; the final performance is scheduled for June 10^th.  Newsies, produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, is directed by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun (Big River revival) and choreographed by Tony nominee Christopher Gattelli (South Pacific revival).  

Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged 'newsies,' who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys' expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what's right.  

Newsies is inspired by the real-life 'Newsboy Strike of 1899,' when newsboy Kid Blink led a band of orphan and runaway newsies on a two-week-long action against Pulitzer, Hearst and other powerful newspaper publishers.
