NBC Closer to Green-Lighting Ryan Murphy's New Sitcom THE NEW NORMAL, Starring Andrew Rannells & Justin Bartha

According to a report by Vulture, GLEE producer Ryan Murphy has just gained permission from NBC chief Bob Greenblatt to begin hiring writers for his third series, The New Normal. The show has not been officially picked up, but this development nudges it much closer.

The show stars Justin Bartha and Andrew Rannells as a gay couple who form a family with a surrogate. NBC is considering an August 2012 release, on the tails of the Summer Olympics. Andrew Rannells is slated to perform in Broadway's Book of Mormon through spring 2013.
