On Monday, July 28 at 8PM Musical Theatre Factory (MTF) will present an acoustic concert of songs from Peter Lerman's new musical play, THE SACRED HARP, about the nephew of a preacher who tries to break free from his Appalachian confines by building an enchanted guitar. The concert, directed by Austin Regan features Van Hughes (American Idiot, 9 to 5, Hairspray) and Christy Altomare (Mamma Mia!, Carrie: the Musical), as well as a full chorus performing traditional Sacred Harp hymns.

THE SACRED HARP - IN CONCERT takes place July 28th at 8pm and has a $15 suggested donation at the door. $12 advance reservations can be made online at http://musicaltheatrefactory.org/events/the-sacred-harp-in-concert/

Musical Theatre Factory is located at 250 West 40th Street (between 7th & 8th Ave) on the fourth floor.

THE SACRED HARP was previously presented at the Disney/ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop. Peter Lerman is also currently writing the music and lyrics for BROOKLYNITE, an original musical with co-writer and director Michael Mayer opening at the Vineyard Theatre in Winter 2015. For his work in theater, Peter has won the Stephen Sondheim Young Artist Citation Award, a Dramatists Guild Fellowship, the Jonathan Larson Award, and the Kennedy Center-ACTF Musical Theater Award. Peter recently contributed music to the Emmy Award-winning comedy "Modern Family" on ABC and is now writing a musical movie based on his original concept for MTV Films with screenwriter Jennifer Maisel. Peter is the co-creative director (with Jeanine Tesori) of Camp A BroaderWay founded by Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs to teach theater skills to 11 and 12-year-old girls from underserved New York City communities

Austin Regan is a New York based theater director and educator.
