Metropolis Opera Project Presents One Hot Kitchen

By:

Metropolis Opera Project presents One Hot Kitchen, December 1st through 11th, 2011 at Medicine Show Theatre. The world premiere opera-electronica by Kristin Hevner-Wyatt (Carnegie Hall, Birdland) and Daniel Wyatt (Grammy and Emmy nominated Gold Record Producer) features a libretto by playwright David Caudle (Winner, Anna Sosenko Assist Trust Grant, Show People), based on his play by the same title.

The cast will feature Wendi Bergamini (South Pacific, Promises, Promises), Katherine Cardin, Paris Carney, Peter Carrier, Kiersten Cunningham, Greer Davis, Michael Deleget, Karla Faggard, Thomas Hendrickson, Alex Krasser, Brian Long, Chris Loxley, Dave Reck, Alexandra Reed, Caroline Selia, Erica Steinhagen, Jonathan Tuzo and Dan Zakarija.

One Hot Kitchen will have scenic, lighting and costume design by Adrianna Desier Durantt, music direction by Christopher Wilson and will be guest-directed by Ithaca College Theatre faculty director and professor of acting, Norm Johnson.

The show is billed as follows: "One Hot Kitchen serves up a five-course feast in a Hell's Kitchen walk-up. For starters, a couple fresh from the Midwest, followed by two gay men suddenly free to make it legal, mismatched roommates, a booty call gone bizarrely awry, and a tragic hypochondriac. Some are more seasoned than others, but all are trying desperately to connect."

One Hot Kitchen will play Medicine Show Theatre (549 West 52nd Street) December 1st-4th and 8th-11th, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. $20 tickets may be purchased through SmartTix.

One Hot Kitchen was developed in part in the Dorothy Strelsin New American Writers Group at Primary Stages.
