Mercury Baroque Opens Season 10/8 With Encyclopedia Bach-tannica

Mercury Baroque officially opens its 11th season on Saturday, October 8th at 8:00pm with Encyclopedia Bach-tannica. The program will consist of Johann Sebastian Bach's Goldberg Variations, which were originally written for a single harpsichord but has been adapted to be performed by a full orchestra.
Considered one of the finest examples of the variation form in music history, this piece is made up of thirty variations based upon a single theme.
