As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, a newly revamped version of Leap of Faith received a table reading last Friday, September 9.  The show's composer, Alan Menken, has taken to his Twitter this morning to announce that the show will next have a 29 hour reading prior to a New York production.  He tweets: "LEAP OF FAITH table reading last Friday. Next is a 29 hour reading before New York production. It's SUCH a changed show!" The musical reportedly has Broadway aspirations, possibly for later this season.

Leap of Faith premiered at the Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles on September 11, 2010 prior to opening on October 3 of that year. Starring Brooke Shields and Raul Esparza, Tony Award-winner Rob Ashford directed and choreographed.

Based on the Steve Martin movie and featuring a score by eight-time Academy Award-winner Alan Menken, book by Janus Cercone with Glenn Slater, and lyrics by Glenn Slater, "Leap of Faith" stars Raúl Esparza as Reverend Jonas Nightengale, the consummate flim-flam man, and Brooke Shields as Marva, the beautiful small-town woman and single mother who challenges everything Jonas believes in.
