Melanie C Wants to Play 'Evita' on Broadway

According to contactmusic.com, Spice Girl Melanie C, star of the upcoming Jesus Christ Superstar UK tour, has revealed her Broadway ambitions.

"I do have an ambition to work on Broadway in a musical," she said. "I'd love to play the role of Evita."

The star just finished a stint as a judge on ITV and Andrew Lloyd Webber's show SUPERSTAR, alongside David Grindrod and Jason Donovan. She will play Mary Magdalene in the UK arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar. Mel C has appeared on the West End in Blood Brothers as Mrs. Johnstone, for which she was nominated for a 2010 Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical.

Mel C also said she hopes to write more of her solo music next year. The singer recently appeared during this month's closing ceremony for the London 2012 Olympics, reuniting with fellow bandmates Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton.

In addition to her group work with the Spice Girls, the singer's music credits include her first solo album Northern Star, followed by Reason, Beautiful Intensions, This Time, The Sea, The Night and now Stages, coming this fall.
