McGrath Replaces Seldes In Williamstown Theatre Festival's The Torch-Bearers; Runs 7/29-8/9

By:

Katherine McGrath (A Tale of Two Cities) will replaced Tony winner Marian Seldes (Deuce) in the upcoming Williamstown Theatre Festival production of The Torch-Bearers. Seldes has withdrawn from the production for personal reasons.

It was recently announced that AndRea Martin (Tony Award - My Favorite Year, Exit the King, Young Frankenstein, My Big, Fat Greek Wedding) would replace the previously announced Dana Ivey, who had to withdraw due to a recent knee injury.

The Torch-Bearers is a side-splitting 1920s farce in which a troupe of amateur actors rehearse and perform a show-stopping new play-or try to with all their might. Their stage is riddled with comedic drama, suspense, and good old-fashioned witty mayhem, similar to both Noises Off and Boeing Boeing.

The Torch-Bearers is written by George Kelly, adapted and directed by Dylan Baker. Katherine McGrath joins a cast which includes Becky Ann Baker, Yusef Bulos, John Doherty, Katie Finneran, Phillip Goodwin, Jessica Hecht, Edward Herrmann, Lizbeth MacKay, John Rubenstein and James Waterston. The production runs on the Main Stage from July 29- August 9.

A WTF season covers a broad range of theatrical endeavors, revisiting classic plays with exciting new productions on our Main Stage, developing and nurturing bold new works on our Nikos Stage, and offering audiences a rich array of cultural events including Free Theatre, Late-Night Cabarets, readings, workshops, and educational programs like the Greylock Theatre Project-a program for children in neighboring North Adams. While best known for our acclaimed productions, WTF is also home to unparalleled training and professional development programs serving new generations of aspiring theatre artists and managers. WTF was honored with the Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre in 2002.
