Mayor of Cincinnati, Mark Mallory, Proclaims May 3 as Brian Isaac Phillips Day

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company has announced that Mark Mallory, Mayor of the City of Cincinnati has proclaimed May 3, 2013 as "Brian Isaac Phillips Day".

The proclamation states that "Brian Isaac Phillips' ten years of artistic direction, vision and leadership of Cincinnati Shakespeare Company have guided CSC to its landmark 20th Anniversary Season and in its 20th Anniversary Season Cincinnati Shakespeare Company under Brian's leadership will have produced all 38 of Shakespeare's plays making CSC one of only five theaters to have completed the Canon... Brian and his team have continuously increased annual attendance during his tenure (and) ...have brought more than 120 artists to live in Cincinnati, the majority of whom have made their homes here... Brian has instilled the CSC Education and Outreach Programs with the excellence needed to enlighten and inspire ove+r 20,000 students each year... Brian's commitment to making Shakespeare and the Classics come to life in fresh new ways has made CSC a valued part of the lives of thousands of Cincinnatians... we honor Brian Isaac Phillips on the completion of his 10th season as Artistic Director of the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company."

The award was presented to Brian by Vice Mayor Roxanne Qualls on May 3, 2013 before the opening night performance of William Shakespeare's "Measure for Measure" directed by Brian Isaac Phillips. Brian said "I am extremely humbled to be receiving this honor and am very grateful to the audiences of Cincinnati Shakespeare Company who have joined me on this journey over the past decade. I look forward to all of the exciting things to come in the future for this city and this organization. Thank you."
