Matthew Ashford Joins Ogunquit Playhouse's 9 TO 5 as 'Franklin' thru Sept 15

By:

Daytime Emmy Award nominee, Matthew Ashford joins Sally Struthers and the cast of Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 the Musical as Franklin Hart Jr. in the Ogunquit Playhouse production. Fresh from his recent topple into an elevator shaft as Jack Devereaux on NBC's daytime drama, "Days of Our Lives," Mr. Ashford will perform the role of the egotistical, lying and hypocritical boss through September 15th.

Matthew Ashford is no stranger to the stage having performed in the National Tour of Mamma Mia! and numerous regional theatre productions including Annie Get Your Gun, Guys and Dolls, The Sound of Music, Funny Girl and Arsenic and Old Lace. Matt received rave reviews from the LA Times for his portrayal of Officer Lockstock in the LA Premiere of Urinetown and received the Artistic Director Achievement Award for Lead Actor in a Musical for Into the Woods.

In addition to playing contract roles on "One Life to Live," "Search for Tomorrow," "Days of Our Lives" and "General Hospital," Matthew's film and television work include Species, Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss, Bonfire of the Vanities, "90210," "Friends," "Dharma and Greg" and "Quantum Leap."

9 to 5 stars Sally Struthers as executive assistant and corporate snitch Roz Keith, Broadway's Becky Gulsvig as Hart's secretary Doralee Rhodes, Erica Aubrey as office trainee Judy Bernly and Carrie McNulty as senior office supervisor Violet Newstead. Keith Andrews directed. Broadway veteran Gerry McIntyre choreographed. Musical Director was Andrew Austin and conducting is Ken Clifton.

9 to 5 the Musical is a co-production with Long Island's Gateway Playhouse. Don't miss this "raucously funny" show that is based on the hit move and features the blockbuster title song plus a jubilant score by Dolly Parton.

Individual ticket prices start at $39 per show. Purchase tickets and gift certificates online at www.ogunquitplayhouse.org, or through the Box Office at 207-646-5511.

The Ogunquit Playhouse is America's Foremost Summer Theatre, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization, producing the finest Broadway musicals each season, with performances Tuesday through Sunday, from May 23 to October 21, 2012.
