Mary Bond Davis to Perform in Provincetown, August 19
Mary Bond Davis, best known for originating the role of Motormouth Maybelle in the Broadway hit Hairspray, will perform in Provincetown for a one night only engagement at The Crown and Anchor.
"On Sunday, August 19th Provincetown will get to witness one of Broadway's most high-octane performers as she shimmies onto the stage to deliver an eclectic mix of standards, blues, pop, show tunes, and a bit of dirt and gossip. Her booming voice and magnetic stage persona make her a critic's favorite and Provincetown audiences are in for an unforgettable evening.," state press notes.
Mary Bond Davis has had a theatrical and musical career that has brought her from Hollywood, to Broadway, and to four continents. This three time Drama-Logue Award winner has been seen on Broadway in Hairspray (Motormouth Maybelle), Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk ('Da Singer), Jelly's Last Jam (Miss Mamie), Show Boat, and Grease (Teen Angel), among others. She has toured with seven different productions of Ain't Misbehavin' and with Ann-Margret in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Her film work includes The Olsen Twin's New York Minute (Big Shirl), The Preacher's Wife, Jeffrey, Hook, and Coming to America.
Mary Bond Davis will be playing The Crown and Anchor on Sunday, August 19th at 10 pm. Tickets can be purchased in person at The Crown and Anchor at 247 Commercial St or by phone at 508-487-1430. Tickets are priced at $25 general admission. She will be joined on piano by Michael Fauss.
