As was speculated several months ago, Bernadette Peters and Martin Short are in talks with producers to star as "Agnes Snow" and "Michael Snow" in a revival of Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt's I DO! I DO!

In an interview with the South Bend Tribune, Short confirmed that things are still moving forward, saying that although he's busy providing voices for several upcoming films and working on his concert special, "I have found, the more eclectic the year, the more you add to this overview of things" and adding that he and Peters are still in talks for the revival.

Talks are still in early phases, but the producers behind the revival are Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Promises, Promises, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Smash), and Broadway Across America's John Gore and Beth Williams.

Seven time Tony Award nominee Peters and Short appeared on stage together in Short's Broadway debut, 1993's THE GOODBYE GIRL. Short returned to Broadway in 1998's LITTLE ME and 2006's Martin Short: FAME BECOMES ME. The actor is best known, however, for his work in comedy, appearing on Saturday Night Live as well as a myriad of blockbuster films and comedy specials.

Based on the Jan De Hartog play The Fourposter, I DO! I DO! spans fifty years, from 1895 to 1945, and focuses on the marriage of Agnes and Michael Snow.

The show premiered on Broadway starring Mary Martin and Robert Preston on December 5, 1966 at the 46th Street Theatre, where it ran for 560 performances. It was later adapted for the screen by Gower Champion and starred Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke in 1969, however the film was never made. A television version with Lee Remick and Hal Linden was broadcast in 1982. The most recent New York stage incarnation in 1996 featured David Garrison and Karen Ziemba off-Broadway revival at the Lamb's Theater.
