New casting has been announced for the Hollywood Bowl's production of A Chorus Line, which won the Tony Award for Best Musical. The additional cast members announced are Mario Lopez as Zach, Sarah Bowden as Cassie Ferguson, Krysta Rodriguez as Diana Morales, and Courtney Lopez as Kristine Ulrich.
A Chorus Line will also star the previously announced
Sabrina Bryan as
Valerie Clark,
Robert Fairchild as Mike Costa,
Spencer Liff as Larry, and
Ross Lynch as
Mark Anthony. In addition,
Mara Davi as Maggie Winslow,
J. Elaine Marcos as Connie Wong,
Jason Tam as Paul San Marco, and
Leigh Zimmerman as Sheila Bryant round out the principal cast.
A Chorus Line will be directed and choreographed by
Baayork Lee, who appeared as Connie Wong in the original Broadway production and choreographed the Broadway revival in 2006. A Chorus Line will be conducted by
Patrick Vaccariello and have choreography adapted and re-staged by
Baayork Lee, from the original by
Michael Bennett.
Bob Avian, the co-choreographer of the original 1975 Broadway production and director of the 2006 Broadway revival, joins the creative team as Production Supervisor.
A Chorus Line will have three performances at the Hollywood Bowl this summer - Friday, July 29, at 8 PM, Saturday, July 30, at 8 PM and Sunday, July 31, at 7:30 PM.
Mario Lopez is currently the host of the Emmy winning entertainment news program, EXTRA as well as the host of ON with
Mario Lopez. He also recently appeared as Vince Fontaine in Fox's groundbreaking, Grease Live! His other television credits include Nip/Tuck and Saved by the Bell, among many others. In 2008,
Mario Lopez made his Broadway debut as Zach in the revival of A Chorus Line where he met his wife Courtney.
Courtney Lopez first appeared on Broadway in Cry-Baby with other credits including The Little Mermaid, the revival of A Chorus Line and the 1st national tour of Thoroughly Modern Millie. Courtney is now a regular correspondent for EXTRA as well as a recurring guest for the national radio show ON With
Mario Lopez.
Krysta Rodriguez has appeared on Broadway in Good Vibrations, the revival of A Chorus Line, the original production of Spring Awakening, In the Heights, The Addams Family, First Date, as well as the Deaf West production of Spring Awakening. In addition to her many stage roles, she has appeared on ABC Family's Chasing Life and NBC's Smash.
Sarah Bowden has appeared in many major solo roles in the Wintergarten Variety Theatre in Berlin. She's played Anita in West Side Story, Bianca in Kiss Me, Kate and Sally Bowles in Cabaret. Bowden recently played the role of Cassie in A Chorus Line at Klagenfurt, directed and choreographed by
Baayork Lee.
Baayork Lee (previously announced) appeared as Connie Wong in the original Broadway production of A Chorus Line. Her other Broadway performing credits include the original Broadway production of A King and I, Flower Drum Song, A Joyful Noise, Golden Boy, and Promises Promises, among others. She choreographed the 2006 Broadway revival of A Chorus Line, from the original choreography by
Michael Bennett.
Bob Avian began his career as a dancer and was in more than a dozen Broadway shows, including West Side Story and Funny Girl. He then became an integral part of every
Michael Bennett production for the next 20 years, working as associate choreographer and/or assistant director on productions including Company, Follies, Twigs, Seesaw and God's Favorite. He received a Tony Award as co-choreographer of A Chorus Line. He then went on to win his second Tony award for co-choreographing Ballroom as well as serving as co-producer. Bob was also a producer of the original and national companies of Dreamgirls, the highly acclaimed musical which won six Tony awards. He choreographed the London production of Follies and then created the musical staging for Miss Saigon. He choreographed the London and Broadway productions of
Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard, receiving his sixth Tony nomination. Next came the Boublil & Schönberg musical Martin Guerre, for which he won the Olivier Award for choreography. Bob also did
Stephen Sondheim's Putting It Together off-Broadway, starring
Julie Andrews and on Broadway starring
Carol Burnett. Returning once again to London, he choreographed The Witches of Eastwick. Bob directed the revival of A Chorus Line on Broadway and then in London at the Palladium. Most recently he recreated his choreography for the new Miss Saigon currently playing in London. He is a proud member of the board of the Miami City Ballet.
