Marines Memorial Theatre Presents NEW WORKS AT THE MARINES 10/19-11/17
Roxanne Goodfellow, artistic and general manager of the recently re-opened Marines Memorial Theatre, today announced the start of "New Works @ The Marines" - a series showcasing new and emerging works in theatre, music, dance, film and other media from artists in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
"New Works @ The Marines" gives actors, directors, writers, choreographers, dancers and musicians an outlet to hone their craft and develop their works in a professional atmosphere, while also giving audience members the opportunity to experience and access some of the most ambitious and innovative work in the San Francisco Bay Area. "New Works @ The Marines" will perform on Mondays and Tuesdays at the Marines Memorial Theatre (609 Sutter Street, 2nd floor). For an up-to-date schedule, visit marinesmemorialtheatre.com.
"The Bay Area has always been a leader in the arts and at the forefront of original, dynamic and cutting edge works," says Goodfellow. "The Marines Memorial Theatre is thrilled to be able to provide a home to artists of all genres for the development of new works in a mid-size downtown San Francisco venue."
To kick-off the series, comedian and monologist Rick Reynolds will present his newly re-worked show Love, God, Sex (and other stuff I don't have) - formally presented at The Marsh under the title Only the Truth is Funny - Mid-Life at the Oasis. Under the direction of Jason Alexander ("Seinfeld"), Love, God, Sex (and other stuff I don't have) is a hysterical and touching autobiographical piece featuring a mix of personal confessions, gut-wrenching childhood remembrances and episodes of high hilarity drawn from Reynolds' own life.
Love, God, Sex (and other stuff I don't have) will perform on Mondays and Tuesdays beginning Monday, October 19 and continuing through November 17. Press night will be on Monday, November 9. Tickets are $20 for previews (through November 3) and $35 for regular performances (November 9 - 17) and are on-sale now at the Marines Memorial Box Office, by phone at 415-771-6900and on the web at marinesmemorialtheatre.com.
