Marcus Center Hosts Their Annual Flag Day Celebration

By:

The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts is hosting its annual Flag Day Celebration on Tuesday, June 14 and is sponsored by the Marcus Center and Environmental Systems, Inc. Festivities are at the Marcus Center's Peck Pavilion from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The theme will be Honoring the Dead by Serving the Living. This event is free and open to the public.

The event will kick off with a Presentation of Colors given by the Milwaukee Metro Non-Commissioned Officers Council and will proceed with a speech by Chaplain, Rev. Ray Stubbe, USMC.

A moment of silence and POW respect with Joe Campbell, Vietnam Veteran, is part of the program along with Gus Gnorski, Vietnam Veteran, as the Master of Ceremonies. Paul Mathews, President and CEO of the Marcus Center will welcome guests and veterans. Colonel Kenneth Sweet, USAF Retired, is the keynote speaker.

Jim Dreblow, Esteemed Leading Knight and Patrick G. Moore, Past Exalted Ruler, will be speaking on behalf of the Milwaukee Elks Lodge #46. During the event the Elks will be collecting flags to be properly retired. To conclude our program, Bob Curry, Founder and President, will speak on behalf of the Dryhootch.

484th Army Band Brass Quintet and Main Street Song & Dance Troupe will perform for everyone's enjoyment after the formal presentation.

"We feel privileged to be able to host this annual Flag Day Celebration," said Paul Mathews, Marcus Center President & CEO, noting that since it opened in 1969, the Marcus Center has been designated an official Milwaukee County War Memorial. "We hope many in the community will come and join us to honor our veterans for their service to our country."
