The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation announced today that its third annual Born for Broadway benefit will take place at the American Airlines Theatre, 227 West 42nd Street, on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 8 PM. Tony nominated director Marcia Milgrom Dodge (Ragtime) has signed on to direct; Lawrence Yurman (On A Clear Day You Can See Forever, Grey Gardens) will musical direct.

Born for Broadway is an exciting one-night only cabaret event featuring the best talents from current and past Broadway shows. The evening benefits the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, which is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by funding innovative research, and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis through grants, information and advocacy.

Born for Broadway first began as a student-sponsored musical revue at Marymount Manhattan College, where founder and executive producer Sarah Galli was enrolled as a performance major. Galli started the event as a way to involve the theatre community so beloved by Christopher and Dana Reeve, as well as raising funds for worthwhile organization. Galli’s brother is a high level quadriplegic.

Announcements of star participants as well as special Hosts will be forthcoming. Past hosts included Richard Kind and Kathie Lee Gifford, with performers including James Naughton, Malcolm Gets, Lesley Gore, and GLEE star Jenna Ushkowitz. Born for Broadway is sure to be one of the highlights of the spring season on the Great White Way.
