According to TVLine.com, Mamie Gummer will star in the upcoming CW medical pilot FIRST CUT. The actress joins previously announced cast member Justin Hartley.

Gummer will portray a new doctor at the hospital who is happily leaving her "nerdy past" behind her, only to find that the hospital environment is not much from high school. Hartley will play a "golden boy surgical intern".

The pilot was scripted by Jennie Snyder Urman (90210, Gilmore Girls). Dan Jinks (Pushing Diasies) will executive produce.

Gummer has most recently been seen in the films 'Taking Woodstock' and John Carpenter's 'TheWard and Twelve Thirty'. Her TV credits include the short lived 'The Map' on ABC and the John Adams miniseries on HBO.

Her theatre credits include: Les Liasons Dangereuses, The School of Lies, Hunting and Gathering, Uncle Vanya, and The Water's Edge.
