MY FAIR LADY Lands On DVD 10/6

Fall in love all over again with one of the greatest musical films of all-time when My Fair Lady lands on DVD October 6 from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment.  Winner of eight Academy Awards® in 1964 including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor, director George Cukor’s My Fair Lady features an all-star cast including Audrey Hepburn, Rex Harrison, Stanley Holloway, Wilfrid Hyde-White and Gladys Cooper.

Screenplay and lyrics are by Alan Jay Lerner; costumes, scenery and production designed by Cecil Beaton. The adored film tops four of the American Film Institute’s “100 Years” lists including #8 on AFI’s 100 Years of Musicals and #17 on 100 Years… 100 Songs for “I Could Have Danced All Night.”

Based on the Broadway musical, which was adapted from the George Bernard Shaw play Pygmalion, My Fair Lady follows disheveled cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle (Hepburn) as she meets arrogant, misanthropic phonetics expert Henry Higgins (Harrison), who believes accent and tone of one’s voice determines a person’s prospects in society.  Apprehensive of Eliza’s thick working-class accent, Higgins bets his companion Colonel Pickering (Hyde-White) that, within six
months, he could transform Eliza into a proper Victorian lady and could pass her off as a duchess at an embassy ball.  The feature film includes revered musical numbers such as “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly,” “The Rain in Spain” and “Get Me to the Church on Time,” among many others.  Bonus materials include audio commentary, vintage footage from the production and insights on the film from Martin Scorsese and Andrew Lloyd Webber. The My Fair Lady DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $19.99 US / $22.99 Canada.

My Fair Lady is a single-disc DVD, digitally remastered and presented in Widescreen with English Stereo audio.  The DVD is rated PG in the U.S. and its total running time is 2 Hrs., 52 Min.  The disc features the following bonus materials:

Bonus Features:
Commentary by Gene Allen, Marni Nixon, Robert A. Harris and James C. Katz
Vintage Featurettes, Footage and Audio
