MOVIN' OUT COMES SIZZLING BACK TO CHICAGO

By:
Movin' Out, the 2003 Tony Award-winning musical conceived, choreographed and directed by Twyla Tharp and based on 24 classic songs by Billy Joel, returns to the city where it made its world premiere.Told through choreography, the story is of lifelong friends through two turbulent decades that change them and the world around them forever.

The main characters come straight from Joel's lyrics. Brenda and Eddie are out of the song "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant," played respectively by Elizabeth Parkinson and the amazingly talented Rasta Thomas. Parkinson reprises her role as part of the original cast in which she received a Tony award nomination for her performance. Also reprising his Tony nominated role is Keith Roberts who plays the character Tony, from the Joel classic, "Movin' Out." Rounding out the main characters are Judy, played by Laura Feig, from the song "Why, Judy, Why," and James, played by Troy Edward Bowles from the song "James."

As soon as the curtain goes up the show takes off like a speeding bullet. The fast and furious pace is set by the loud rock band which gets the audiences hearts pumping. The concert lighting dazzles your eyes and the dancers keep you in awe all night long. The main stars of the show are all worth the price of admission, but the performer who ultimately steals the show is Piano and Lead vocalist Darren Holden. Holden sounds spot on as a young Billy Joel and his vocals are near flawless. He is having a blast on stage, belting out tune after tune and he and the band make this show an absolute delight.

The entire ensemble is enjoyable to watch and there are several moments when you find yourself with your jaw open, watching the spectacular dance moves. If you are a fan of Billy Joel's music you will absolutely love this show. Even if you are not a Joel fan, this production is too impressive and enjoyable to miss.
