MISS SAIGON Closes the Music Circus Season 8/23-28

By:

One of the most stunning theatrical spectacles of all time, Miss Saigon, makes its Music Circus premiere August 23-28. From the creators of Les Misérables, the classic Puccini opera Madame Butterfly is brought into modern times to 1970s Saigon during the Vietnam War. The 10th longest-running show on Broadway, Miss Saigon will mesmerize audiences with its tale of doomed romance and ultimate sacrifice.

Miss Saigon opened on Broadway in 1991 after starting a successful run in London's West End. It ran for 10 years and over 4,000 performances. Several national and international productions have followed. The Music Circus production will star Eric Kunze as the American G.I., Chris, Ma-Anne Dionisio as Vietnamese bar girl, Kim, and Kevin Gray as The Engineer, who runs the bar where Kim and Chris meet. Eric Kunze and Kevin Gray have both performed their Miss Saigon roles on Broadway, and Ma-Anne Dionisio has performed the role in London and Canada.

The epic tragedy Miss Saigon follows Chris, an American G.I., and Kim, a Vietnamese bar girl, as they meet and fall in love in Vietnam in 1975 during the final days of the American occupation. After they are torn apart and Chris returns to America, their worlds collide once again years later.

Music Circus productions are presented at the Wells Fargo Pavilion, 1419 H Street in Sacramento. Performances are Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m., Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m., and Thursday and Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets start at $42 and youth tickets for ages 4-17 start at $30. Tickets are available by phone at (916) 557-1999, online at www.tickets.com, or in person at the Wells Fargo Pavilion Box Office. For discounts for groups of 12 or more, please call (916) 557-1198.
