MIKE STOLLER IN CONVERSATION WITH STEVE BARRI Set for May 31 - Promotion for Hound Dog - The Leiber & Stoller Autobiography
"Mike Stoller In Conversation with Steve Barri" will be presented at the Skirball Cultural Center on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the auditorium at the Skirball Cultural Center, 2701 N. Sepulveda Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90049. Immediately following the program, Mike Stoller will signing copies of his book, "Hound Dog – The Leiber & Stoller Autobiography."
Listen in as Grammy Award winner Mike Stoller, one-half of the legendary songwriting team of Leiber and Stoller, discusses his colorful life and celebrated career. Over the course of a 61-year partnership, Leiber and Stoller created enduring classics in a variety of genres including Rhythm & Blues, Pop, Country, Jazz, Cabaret, and most notably, Rock and Roll. Their many hits include "Hound Dog" (Elvis Presley) and "Is That All There Is?" (Peggy Lee) while their 1995 Broadway production, Smokey Joe's Café: The Songs of Leiber and Stoller, was nominated for seven Tony Awards and still holds the record as the longest-running musical revue in Broadway history. Stoller will be interviewed by Steve Barri, composer, lyricist and music industry executive who signed Steely Dan, Jimmy Buffet and Three Dog Night. Mike Stoller is appearing at this event as part of the Skirball Cultural Center's educational class series, "The Birth of Rock and Roll: The Pioneers, 1954- 1964."
