Lyric Theatre Presents A CHORUS LINE, 8/2-6

Lyric Theatre is closing its Civic Center summer shows with a fresh and thrilling production of A Chorus Line. Lyric's version of this singular sensation features new costumes, new scenic elements and even new choreography that Lyric audiences will love.

This timeless and stunning musical will astonish those who have ever had a dream for the Broadway stage. This is the story of the ones who make it and the ones who don't. Winner of nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Musical Score and Best Choreography, A Chorus Line will dazzle you with song like "I Hope I Get It," "At the Ballet," "What I Did For Love" and "ONE". With its brilliant complex fusion of dance, song and compelling authentic drama, you will love this brand-new production as Lyric Theatre brings new life to a classic.

A Chorus Line will be directed and choreographed by David Marquez. Marquez's past Broadway choreography credits include The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Gershwin's Fascinating Rhythm, Stanley, My Favorite Broadway: The Leading Ladies and Metro Mass Choir. Marquez's other credits include In The Heights, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Billy Joel Project. Marquez is presenting Lyric audiences a fresh experience to this musical.

"I am not going to be re-imagining A Chorus Line, that would be like trying to re-paint the Mona Lisa or re-write Hamlet," says Marquez. "Instead, I hope to breathe fresh breath into the Michael Bennet masterpiece - kind of like shaking out a beloved old tapestry or maintaining a priceless antique; or using a brand new type of film to shoot a classic old movie."

Starring in Broadway's masterpiece is New York City actor, Robert Montano. He will be playing Zach, the Broadway director who encourages the auditioning actors' to reveal their histories, hopes, and dreams. Montano's Broadway credits include Kiss of The Spider Woman, On The Town, Cats, Chita +2 and Legs Diamond. Other theatre and film credits include Cloud Tectonics, References To Salvador Dali Makes Me Hot, Fabulation, One Shot One Kill and Diosa Marty.
Joining Montano on the Civic Center stage this summer as Cassie is the Helen Hayes award-winning actress, Natascia Diaz.

"I am thrilled to finally make my debut as Cassie in my first professional production of A Chorus Line here at Lyric," says Diaz. "This show is a clear window into the soul of the performer. And certainly, when I speak Cassie's words, they echo through my own personal story with beautiful and frightening accuracy."
In 2009, Diaz won the Helen Hayes Award in Washington, D.C. for Outstanding Actress in the musical, Rooms. Her critically acclaimed performance as Anita in West Side Story has won her both a Chicago Joseph Jefferson Award and a 2006 Kevin Klein Award. Diaz's Broadway and off-Broadway credits include Tick, Tick...Boom!. Jacques Brel, Man of La Mancha and The Capeman. Diaz's other credits include Kiss of the Spiderwoman, A Little Night Music, Carnival! and Agamemnon and His Daughters.
Lexi Windsor, playing Sheila in A Chorus Line, was seen as Evelyn Nesbit in Lyric's July production of Ragtime. She was also recently seen at Lyric at the Plaza as Gretchen in Boeing Boeing and Columbia in Lyric's 2010 production of The Rocky Horror Show. Windsor played Val in Lyric's 2001 production of A Chorus Line and is excited to be part of the show again.
"A Chorus Line was the last show Lyric Theatre did at The Kirkpatrick Theatre before they moved to the Civic Center and I'm very excited Lyric audiences will finally get to see this amazing musical on a grand scale," says Windsor. "I'm very honored and delighted to be a part of this wonderfully-crafted staple in musical theatre history."
Windsor's past Lyric Productions include Grease and Oklahoma! starring Kelli O'Hara. Windsor's other regional credits include The 39 Steps, Nab-A-Date, Sweet Charity, Subways Are For Sleeping and 42nd Street.
Playing Paul in Lyric's production of A Chorus Line is Felipe Gonzalez Quillin has been seen on stage in many productions, including Paul in A Chorus Line, Chino in West Side Story, Simon Zealotes in Jesus Christ Superstar, Dromio of Ephesus in The Boys From Syracuse, Evita, Beauty and the Beast, and Hello Dolly!
