Loyola’s Jazz Underground Series Continues with Drummer Herlin Riley 10/13

Master drummer Herlin Riley will lead a group of Loyola University New Orleans jazz majors in a program of standards and original compositions on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in Satchmo's, located in the basement of the Danna Student Center on the university's main campus.
Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for Loyola faculty and staff, and free for Loyola students. Tickets are available online at www.montage.loyno.edu or by calling 504-865-2074, and will also be available at the door 30 minutes prior to the performance. Free parking is available in the West Road Garage located on West Road and accessible from St. Charles Avenue.A New Orleans native, Riley has appeared at venues and festivals throughout the world, playing for a host of music legends including Wynton Marsalis, Ahmad Jamal, Dr. John, George Bensen and Marcus Roberts. He performed on the first U.S. tour of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra in 1992 and remains a regularly featured musician at Jazz at Lincoln Center.As band leader, Riley has released two albums, "Cream of the Crescent" and "Watch What You're Doing." Both albums feature fellow Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra members.
