Next week, Lori Petty (Orange is the New Black, The Poker House, A League of Their Own) directs a reading of TRIAL - a new play by Ashley Griffin (creator of the pop culture phenomenon Forever Deadward) - at MANHATTAN THEATER CLUB. Trial beautifully and movingly deals with the subject of child abuse. Featuring: Geneva Carr (Tony Nomination - Hand To God,) Ryan Clardy (One Life To Live,) Xanthe Elbrick (Tony Nomination - Coram Boy,) Steve Hauck (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,) Oona Laurence (Tony Award -Matilda, Southpaw,) Jillian Louis (It Shoulda Been You,) Ryan McCurdy (Once).

Child molestation is sadly one of the most common, and most commonly unreported, crimes in our country. Guilt often assumed by the victim; the result is tragedy. At every reading almost every audience member has come up to Ashley and shared a story of how they, a family member, or friend experienced something similar to the main character Kay, and shared that they were grateful that Ashley was talking about this issue - which often gets ignored in commercial art for being dark and difficult of subject matter.
