Due to the overwhelming success of the Billy Elliot Workshops in New York City, A Class Act NY, the award-winning acting studio for kids and teens is bringing the One-Day intensive to the Sid Jacobson JCC in Roslyn on February 15, President's Day.
"Thommie was actually discovered while teaching a dance class in Los Angeles! Not only is Thommie a great performer, he is first and foremost an educator. Thommie grew up in a dance studio. His mom owned a studio for over 30 years and his brother still operates his own studio in L.A. It's such a thrill to watch him in action. He's so passionate about teaching," says Jessica Rofe, Artistic Director.
Thommie, Artistic Director, Jessica Rofé and Jane Fucillo, Talent Manager from Shirley Grant Management will work together in this Billy theme workshop in which kids will work on scenes, songs and a dance combination from this Broadway smash hit! Students also bring in their own song for the mock audition portion of class. Kids will receive proper musical theatre audition technique instruction from the creative team.
"It's also great to have a Manager at the Workshop," explains Jessica Rofé. "Jane of Shirley Grant Management will give the kids another perspective on what it's like to be a professional child actor and who knows?," Rofé jokes. "Students of mine have been scouted at our workshops! Danika Yarosh was cast in Billy Elliot after our NYC Workshop!"
