London Production Of FRANKENSTEIN Broadcast At Town Hall 3/24

By:

Theater audiences sometimes gasp at a scary moment, but rarely do they shriek out in horror. That's precisely what's happening at Frankenstein, in a new version created by the National Theater of Great Britain.

Completely sold-out for the entire run in London, the production will be broadcast at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater on Thursday, March 24.

The director is none other than Danny Boyle, known for directing hit films such as Slumdog Millionaire. Boyle takes the well-known story by Mary Shelley and turns it into something fresh, powerful and spectacular. Critics are raving. The opening scene is a particular triumph, as the naked Creature drops from a sinister apparatus, and we watch as it thrashes, groans, and somehow learns to sit, stand and run. As one reviewer said, it's like watching a speeded up version of human evolution.

The intricate set and lighting are worth the price of admission by themselves, and the show doesn't stint on the gory details. By the end of the evening, audiences are screaming - something completely unexpected in the hallowEd Halls of Britain's National Theater.

"A stunning evening" - The Guardian. "Brilliant" - The New York Times.

Frankenstein will be shown on Thursday, March 24, at 7:00 pm at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater. Tickets are $17, and may be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org, 802 382-9222, at the THT Box Office (Mon-Sat, Noon - 5 pm) or at the door.
