According to a report by the Daily Mail, Heather Headley will star in the musical version of Whitney Houston's film The Bodyguard, alongside Lloyd Owen, who is in talks to play the role Kevin Costner originally played in the movie.

The musical version of Whitney Houston's film The Bodyguard will begin previews November 6 at West End's Adelphi Theatre. The official opening night will be December 5. The musical will be directed by Thea Sharrock and will feature Tony Award winning actress Heather Headley as the leading lady. Michael Harrison and David Ian produce.

The November previews will come about nine months after Houston's February death. The original 1992 Bodyguard film was the actress' screen debut. The romance, thriller film followed a popular singer and her bodyguard, who protects her from a stalker. The musical version of the film will include songs from the movie, as well as other Houston hits. Songs will include "Queen of the Night," "So Emotional," "One Moment in Time," "Saving All My Love," "I'm Your Baby Tonight," "How Will I Know," "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," "I Will Always Love You," "Run to You," and "I Have Nothing."

Producer Michael Harrison recently premiered I Dreamed A Dream, a musical based on the life of Susan Boyle.

Heather Headley's other stage credits include Broadway productions of Dreamgirls, Aidia and The Lion King. Her performance in Aida won her the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical.
