Lincoln Center's Platform Series Kicks Off With DIVIDING THE ESTATE Author Horton Foote

Lincoln Center Theater’s Platform Series, a forum for public discussion between Lincoln Center Theater artists and interested theatergoers, beings its 2008-2009 season on Thursday, November 13, at 6:00 pm with a pre-performance talk with Horton Foote, the playwright of LCT’s production of “Dividing the Estate” which opens at the Booth Theater on Broadway (222 West 45Street) on Thursday, November 20.

Platform Series events take place between 6:00 pm to 6:45 pm, in the lobby of the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65th Street).   Admission is free and open to all; however, seating in the lobby is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis only, beginning at 5:30 pm. (Speakers and schedules are subject to change.  Call 212-362-7600 to confirm on the day of the event.).

Playwright Horton Foote returns to Lincoln Center Theater where his play The Carpetbagger’s Children was presented at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater.  His many plays include The Day Emily Married, The Roads to Home, The Young Man From Atlanta, The Trip to Bountiful, Lily Dale, The Widow Claire and Laura Dennis.  His honors include the Pulitzer Prize for The Young Man From Atlanta, and two Academy Awards for his screenplays for To Kill A Mockingbird and Tender Mercies. “Dividing the Estate” which is being presented on Broadway by Lincoln Center Theater by arrangement with Primary Stages, won an 2008 Obie Award for its off Broadway production last season.

Lincoln Center Theater’s platform series was introduced in the summer of 1998.  Transcripts of the previous talks are available on-line at www.lct.org.
