Lincoln Center's First Mobile App Launches Today

By:

Lincoln Center, the world's leading performing arts center, celebrates summer this year with the official launch of its first mobile app, featuring a wide array of interactive entertainment services sharable through social media. As part of an extensive undertaking to improve the visitor experience while transforming the way a cultural institution informs its patrons about performances and events, Lincoln Center is integrating 21st-century technology throughout its renewed 16 acres with an innovative campus-wide information system (Infoscape).

Lincoln Center's superb offerings will be easier to navigate with the new free app, the first of its kind for a performing arts center of this size. It was designed by the New York office of the global innovation and design firm, IDEO, and developed by Pivotal Labs. This new iPhone app allows visitors to explore the wealth of cultural events happening year round, including the ability to purchase tickets, plan a trip (with dining options), and share with friends what audiences are seeing.

Key features allow users to:

· Access a comprehensive and interactive Lincoln Center calendar showing what's on today; explore future events; and buy tickets straight from your phone.
· Filter events by performance genres.
· Save the shows you've seen and want to see as My Events. Share the ones you're most excited about by email or posting to Facebook.
· Find your way around the Lincoln Center campus with an interactive map that includes box offices, restrooms, parking, and subways.
· Learn about Lincoln Center's many dining options-and call for reservations straight from the app.
· Discover little known facts about Lincoln Center as you roam the campus.

In addition to the new mobile app, this summer Lincoln Center is connecting with its audiences through a number of new channels including the WNET premiere of Treasures of New York: Lincoln Center with Patti LuPone on July 14, David Michalek's public art installation displayed on Josie Robertson Plaza through July 31, and a free concert of Mozart and Stravinsky in Avery Fisher Hall by the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra on July 30. Lincoln Center is always home to dancing under the stars at Midsummer Night's Swing, as well as outstanding free programs of music and dance at Lincoln Center Out of Doors.
