Ventura's Rubicon Theatre Company is delighted to announce the next evening in their Broadway Cabaret Benefit Concert Series, Lillias White in MY GUY CY on February 27, 2012 at 7pm.
Before her award-winning performance in Rubicon's The Best is Yet To Come: The Music of Cy Coleman, Lillias White was honored on Broadway with the Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, People's Choice Award and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Actress in a Musical–Broadway's Prestigious Quadruple Crown–for her performance in The Life. She is also the recipient of the Obie Award for the musical Romance in Hard Times and the Drama Logue Award for her role in the national tour of Dreamgirls.
Rubicon's Broadway Cabaret Benefit Concerts bring stage stars to Ventura and the intimate setting of RTC, offering a little slice of Broadway to an appreciative audience.
Past stars of the series include David Burnham, Levi Kreis, Randal Keith & Joan Almedilla, Amanda McBroom & George Ball, Davis Gaines and Teri Bibb.
My Guy Cy explores Lillias' personal and professional history with the famed composer, which began in 1981 when she made her Broadway debut in Barnum. The song list includes "Witchcraft," "The Best is Yet to Come," "The Oldest Profession" and "There's Got to Be Something Better Than This" from Sweet Charity, among many others. Guests are invited to mingle with the star during a post-show reception at the theatre.
Tickets may be purchased in person through the Rubicon Theatre Company box office, located at 1006 E. Main Street (Laurel entrance). To charge by phone, call (805) 667-2900, or visit Rubicon online at www.rubicontheatre.org.
