Libertine Library at Gild Hall Welcomes Ann Hood and Marina Budhos

By:

New York's writing guru Ann Hood will share an intimate stage with celebrated author Marina Budhos and exciting emerging writer Cara Hoffman on Tuesday, May 10th, at 7pm in the elegant Libertine Library at Gild Hall in Lower Manhattan to close out the extraordinary Spring 2011 season of the monthly Pen Parentis Literary Salon. The event is free and open to the public, with fine wine, networking opportunities, and book signings. Come early to guarantee a seat-this special event is likely to be standing room only.

"Cara was one of our first readers back in 2009," executive director M. M. De Voe said of Ms. Hoffman, author of SO MUCH PRETTY, "She read from the manuscript of this very novel. We are thrilled to welcome her back to the stage to present her book; she's a luminary, an inspiration, and also-she's hilarious." Hoffman's novel has received a starred review in Publisher's Weekly with advance praise calling it "searing."

Each of the literary ladies appearing on May 10th has written books while caring for young children, and each will have 20 minutes to present new work. The readings will be followed by Q&A centered on the balance of art and family life. Bluestockings Bookstore will vend books for individual signings. Wine is available with a small donation. Pen Parentis Literary Salons are a monthly series of distinctive literary events which have won New York State and New York City arts funding and were nominated for a Neighborhood Achievement Award from the Mayor's office two years running. The public is warmly invited. For further information: www.penparentis.org
