In a recent interview with E! Online, Lea Michele, who previously expressed interest in starring in a Broadway revival of FUNNY GIRL, is still interested in starring in the show. A new revival was originally scheduled to open on Broadway in Spring 2012 with Lauren Ambrose in the lead role, but was postponed because of the 'economic climate.'

When asked if she would still consider doing the show, Michele responded: "Of course! I would do that show for an empty room by myself!"

On her upcomig role in 'New Year's Eve, Michele added, "I didn't really intend on doing a film where I sang. I sing so much on my show that I sort of felt like maybe I would start looking into things that didn't involve me singing, but when I read the script, the songs were already in there—they didn't add them for me."

Best known for her role as "Wendla" in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of "Spring Awakening," Michele was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical for her performance.

For her work on GLEE, Michele was honored this year with a Golden Globe nomination for Best Television Actress - Comedy or Musical and an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. Michele was also recently nominated for a 2010 Teen Choice Award for ChoIce TV Actress: Comedy. In 2009, she was nominated in the ChoIce TV: Breakout Star Female category.
