The team of composer/lyricist Robert Rokicki (MARTHA & ME) and librettist/lyricist Michael Ruby (ETHAN FROME) will debut their pop-rock musical collaboration and just-announced winner of Curtain Call's American Harmony Prize LOVE, NY with a one-night-only concert performance at The Zipper Factory on Monday, January 26, 2009 at 7PM.

The cast will feature the talents of Randy Aaron (Dame Edna: BACK WITH A VENGEANCE, JUNIE B. JONES), Kevin Massey (TARZAN, BIG RIVER), Brynn O'Malley (WICKED, SUNDAY IN THE PARK), Vanessa Ray (THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTRY SPELLING BEE) Krysta Rodriguez (IN THE HEIGHTS, Spring Awakening), Nick Spangler (THE FANTASTICKS, Winner of CBS' THE AMAZING RACE).

Part love letter, part "dear john" letter to the city we love to hate. LOVE, NY tells the story of five 20-somethings fighting to find their way in the Big Apple, figuring out if what they want in life is what they truly need - all while struggling not to get lost in a sea of 9 million people. Featuring the show's score in its entirety and selections of its fast-paced, comic libretto, this concert of LOVE, NY will be a high-energy, high-emotion, hilarious event not to be missed...kind of like living in NYC.

The event is being presented by Kathryn Lumpkin and Lucy Rose of For The Love Productions. John Prestianni music directs and leads the 4-piece rock band. Alix Claps stage manages. Francis Kelly directs.

LOVE, NY - In Concert will be presented Monday, January 26, 2009 at 7PM at The Zipper Factory (336 W. 37th street in Manhattan between 8th & 9th Avenues). Tickets are $15. For advanced tickets, call The Zipper Factory box office at 212.563.0480 or visit www.thezipperfactory.com.

Rob Rokicki's credits include the sold-out Fringe hit MARTHA & ME and his songs have been featured in the star-studded "Where's Darfur?" Benefit Concert at The Knitting Factory and at Upright LA Cabaret Theatre. Michael Ruby wrote the librettos to ETHAN FROME (music and lyrics by Adam Gwon), the upcoming SWING FOR VICTORY! and the sold-out Christmas review THE GREATEST HOLIDAY MUSICAL...EVER!. Selections from LOVE, NY have been previously presented at The Lincoln Center Library, the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop (of which Rokicki is a member), and the Golden Fleece Square One Series.

The goal of the American Harmony Prize is to showcase new musicals that explore our country's many ethnic, religious and gender identifications. Every year, the prize is awarded to the writers of a show that delves into a different segment of American society. The winning musical is presented as a concert reading in the Stamford, Connecticut based Curtain Call Theater's Monday Musicals series.
