LOVE, LOSS AND WHAT I WORE to End Off-Broadway Run 3/25

LOVE-LOSS-20010101

Producer Daryl Roth announced today that the long-running Off Broadway favorite Love, Loss, and What I Wore will close on Sunday, March 25, 2012 after playing for two and a half years and 1,013 performances. (March 15th marks the show’s landmark 1,000 performance.)

“Being able to share the intimate collection of stories in Love, Loss, and What I Wore with audiences all over the world, and see it find its place in the cultural landscape, has been incredibly fulfilling,” Ms. Roth said. “I am very proud of how many women this production has touched – both on stage and off. We have had 32 rotating casts, and 120 actresses have participated during our New York run. The emotional resonance and personal connection people have to this show has been overwhelming.”

The Off Broadway hit, written by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron, directed by Karen Carpenter and based on the best-selling book by Ilene Beckerman, opened at The Westside Theatre on October 1, 2009, where it broke all box office records and recouped its entire investment in just eleven weeks.
Since Love, Loss, and What I Wore opened, audiences around the globe have gotten the chance to experience it. The show has played on six continents, in places including: Cape Town, South Africa; The Philippines; Paris, France; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Sydney, Australia; Toronto, Canada and many more. Los Angeles’ Geffen Theatre and Chicago's Broadway Playhouse both hosted extended runs, and the show is currently in Detroit, MI (through March 4) as part of the national tour.

The production was honored with a 2010 Drama Desk Award and a Broadway.com Audience Award. From its first performance, Love, Loss, and What I Wore has been collecting audiences' donated purses and accessories for Dress for Success and has contributed more than $125,000 to the organization.

Love, Loss, and What I Wore is performed by a rotating cast of five all-star actors, who perform in four-week cycles. To date, the full list of New York company members includes: Jenny Allen, La La Anthony, Tichina Arnold, Samantha Bee, Emily Bergl, Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Mary Birdsong, Alexis Bledel, Nikki Blonsky, Sierra Boggess, Katrina Bowden, Brenda Braxton, Marylouise Burke, Helen Carey, Kristin Chenoweth, Anna Chlumsky, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Victoria Clark, Margaret Colin, Didi Conn, Maddie Corman, Veanne Cox, Tyne Daly, Lucy DeVito, Erin Dilly, Emily Dorsch, Fran Drescher, Haylie Duff, Nancy Dussault, Daisy Eagan, Emme, Barbara Feldon, Tovah Feldshuh, Conchata Ferrell, Katie Finneran, Kate Flannery, Alison Fraser, Penny Fuller, Janeane Garofalo, Nancy Giles, Anita Gillette, Joanna Gleason, Judy Gold, Alicia Goranson, Aisha de Haas, Julie Halston, Ann Harada, Rachael Harris, Melissa Joan Hart, Dee Hoty, Jayne Houdyshell, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Capathia Jenkins, Lisa Joyce, Carol Kane, Minka Kelly, Shirley Knight, Sharon Lawrence, Sabrina Le Beauf, Katie Lee, Michele Lee, Adriane Lenox, Stacy London, Jane Lynch, Natasha Lyonne, Allison Mack, Fern Mallis, Sonia Manzano, Marla Maples, Samantha Mathis, AnnaLynne McCord, Donna McKechnie, Anne Meara, Janel Moloney, Ashley Austin Morris, Debra Monk, Kate Mulgrew, Diane Neal, Kristine Nielson, Rosie O’Donnell, Orfeh, Joyce Van Patten, Rhea Perlman, Eve Plumb, June Diane Raphael, Caroline Rhea, Barbara Rhoades, Doris Roberts, Tracee Ellis Ross, Roslyn Ruff, Amanda Setton, Sherri Shepherd, Brooke Shields, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Alexandra Silber, B.
