LORETTA SWIT In LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE
Loretta Swit to join cast of Love, Loss, and What I Wore
M*A*S*H star will appear onstage at Asolo Rep June 22-July 15
Emmy® Award-winning actress Loretta Swit is the first cast member announced for Asolo Repertory Theatre's summer production of Love, Loss, and What I Wore. Swit is known by audiences for her quick-witted and impassioned portrayal of Major Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan on television's beloved series, M*A*S*H. Swit has been honored with two Emmy® Awards and ten nominations, a People's Choice Award, and eight Golden Globe® nominations.
Asolo Rep is one of the first theatres in the country granted the rights to independently produce Love, Loss, and What I Wore. The show will be directed by Karen Carpenter, who helmed the smash-hit original Off-Broadway production. Time Out New York called it "Best of the year!" Vanity Fair said, "[Love, Loss, and What I Wore] is Witty and Wise!", and The New York Times wrote that Love, Loss, and What I Wore is "funny, compelling… [and] brought down the house." Syndicated Columnist Liz Smith raved, "This is an evening that goes directly to the heart, soul and vanity of every woman, young or old."
Swit joined the Off-Broadway cast in 2011, prior to embarking on the national tour of the production earlier this year. Written by Delia and Nora Ephron, Love, Loss, and What I Wore is an intimate collection of stories based on the best-selling book by Ilene Beckerman, as well as on the recollections of the Ephron's friends. Like the popular book, the show features stories about the clothes and accessories and the memories they trigger. The entire cast of five women will be announced at a later date.
Sponsors for Love, Loss, and What I Wore include the Herald-Tribune Media Group, Tamaya Wine, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Tickets for Love, Loss, and What I Wore can be purchased by calling the Asolo Rep Box Office at 941.351.8000 or online at www.asolorep.org.
