LAByrinth Theater Company, in its fifth season of residency at The Public Theater,  has announced the lineup for two development festivals of free staged-readings!

The Barn Series Festival Tuesday, November 27, 2007 through Saturday, December 15, 2007 and Live Nude Plays Sunday December 16 & Monday December 17, 2007, both at The Public Theater (425 Lafayette Street).

All readings are FREE and open to the public. Readings will occur in the LuEsther Hall at The Public Theater (425 Lafayette Street).  Reservations are not necessary and seating will be general admission on a first-come, first-served basis per performance. Patrons should arrive at the theater 1/2 hour before the performance they would like to attend.

The Barn Series Festival and Live Nude Plays feature projects originally work-shopped at LAByrinth's annual Summer Intensive, and represent the next stage of play development at LAByrinth Theater Company.  While each is a reading series (actors hold scripts in hand), many projects have added production values such as sound, lighting, and blocking.  The aim of the readings is to nurture new works at differing stages of development, so each piece is presented in the manner that best serves its needs.

The Barn Series features plays that are more traditional in structure whereas Live Nude plays features work that are more experimental in form or presentation.  Each festival allows artists to assess how general New York audiences connect with the work, and gives them a valuable opportunity to further shape and refine it as a step towards full production, while giving audiences the opportunity to participate in the development of original theater and see LAByrinth's future seasonal productions in their nascent stages.
