Kraus Gallery Features BARC Exhibition, 3/3-5/1

Kraus_Gallery_Features_BARC_Exhibition_3351_20010101

Krause Gallery, an art gallery representing emerging to established contemporary artists, is pleased to present the new solo exhibition by contemporary artist JORDAN EAGLES, BARC: (BLOOD, ACRYLIC, RESIN, COPPER).

Through a self-invented process, Eagles suspends, encases, and permanently preserves animal blood, salvaged from slaughterhouses, in acrylic plexiglass and UV resin. His innovative technique challenges nature by preventing the works from decomposing. The works are designed to retain the blood's natural colors, textures and to expose its finite details. When spot lit, the works become more translucent, cast shadows, and project an intense glow onto the wall behind them. This effect reveals multiple layers of blood floating in the transparent resin and makes the works appear as if they are illuminated from within.

Eagles' unique, multidimensional works explore themes of regeneration and the intangible connections between body, spirit and nature. The allegorical potential of his raw and precious materials form a compelling multi-sensory experience-providing a novel tale of death to life.

Eagles has been working and preserving animal blood for over a decade. His elaborate and physically intense process becomes ritual and the works themselves become relics of the experience. Eagles studio is temperature controlled at 88-95 degrees and his preservation techniques require very specific timing. For his new works, Eagles has developed new techniques for heating, burning and mixing the blood with resin to generate organic patterns and textures that are reminiscent of fire, crystals, outer space, galactic shrapnel and skin. In these new works, Eagles also fuses copper with the expired blood adding, what he believes, is "an additional jolt of electricity that offers more energy to the blood, making it even more alive."

Jordan Eagles' works are held in the Permanent Collections of The Everson Museum of Art, The Addison Gallery of American Art, The Mobile Museum of Art, The Fuller Craft Museum, The Museum of Sex, The Prudential Center Arena and many private collections around the world. Eagles work has been featured in The New York Times, Village Voice, L'Uomo Vogue, Architectural Digest Italy, New York Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle, MSNBC, FOX News, NY Post's Page 6 and Marie Claire Italia. His work has been in feature films and a reproduction of one of his images is being used as a massive 50-foot stage curtain for Alice Cooper's international rock concert. Eagles has shown extensively in the United States with solo exhibitions in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Hartford, Dallas and Baltimore. This will be Eagles first solo exhibition at Krause Gallery's new location in the Lower East Side, NYC.
