Kirk Douglas Announces 'Little Sheba' Cast

By:

Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre has announced that Screen Actors Guild president Alan Rosenberg will replace previously announced Bruce Davison in the final production of their 2006-2007 season, Come Back, Little Sheba, opening June 24 at the Culver City location.

Rosenberg will join star S. Epatha Merkerson in Pulitzer Prize winning William Inge's classic American play.  Michael Pressman directs the cast which includes Roger Aaron Brown, Josh Cooke, Michael Dempsey, Jenna Gavigan, Bill Heck, Lycle Kanouse, Joe Mahon, Brenda Wehle and Matthew J. Williamson.

The set design for Sheba is by James Noone, costumes by Jennifer von Mayrhauser, lighting by Jane Cox, sound design by Cricket S. Myers and original music by Peter Golub. Casting is by Bonnie Grisan, and the production stage manager is David S. Franklin.

In Sheba, Lola (Merkerson) is a woman lost in her memories and caught in a stale, hapless 25-year marriage with Doc (Rosenberg), a man who has his own struggles with the past. Lola opens their home to Marie (Gavigan), a fresh-faced young boarder, and soon the precarious balance of the couple's relationship is shaken by Marie's youthful sexuality and vivaciousness. Inge gives a compassionate and authentic voice to the complex emotions and longings of Lola and Doc as they are compelled to re-examine their life together.

Tickets for Come Back, Little Sheba are on sale now and are available by calling 213-628-2772, online at www.CenterTheatreGroup.org, in person at the Center Theatre Group box office at the Ahmanson Theatre or two hours prior to performances at the Kirk Douglas Theatre box office.  Previews begin June 17 with the production running through July 15.
