Tonight The Old Vic will be hosting a Gala evening of entertainment, Old Vic New York, at Gotham Hall in New York City. Hosted by Stephen Fry, the evening will include a number of British and American personalities taking to the stage, as part of this one off theatrical extravaganza led by Kevin Spacey.

Supported by notable talent including Jeff Goldblum and Kim Cattrall, theatre-goers will be treated to musical numbers, sketches, comedy and more - the perfect way to spend a cold January evening, celebrating 193 years of The Old Vic. Proceeds from the benefit will support The American Associates of The Old Vic, a non-profit organization that supports the work of The Old Vic and in particular its commitment to presenting American plays and collaborating with American Artists.

Support from this evening will further The Old Vic’s ambition of uniting American and British theatre practitioners and of providing professional development to emerging talent through transatlantic cultural exchange. The night will kick off with cocktails, followed by a sit down dinner at 8pm in one of Broadway’s most prominent and prestigious social venues. An exclusive auction later in the evening will allow guests a chance to bid for once in a life time stage opportunities and experiences, including: an internship at The Old Vic for 18 – 25 year olds, allowing them behind-the-scenes access to the theatre and its staff; an hour’s tennis game with Kevin Spacey; and there will even be the chance to join the ranks of Sir Laurence Olivier, Dame Judi Dench and the many legends who have tread the boards at The Old Vic in your very own walk on role for the renowned 24 Hour Plays Celebrity Gala.

Those who purchased top tier $2,500 tickets for the Gala will also receive performance tickets to Richard III, starring Kevin Spacey, directed by Sam Mendes. The critically acclaimed production opened in New York City at BAM on 18th January and will be running until March 4th, 2012.

During artistic director Kevin Spacey’s eight years at The Old Vic, the theatre has produced nine American plays, employed over three dozen America artists, nurtured over three hundred emerging theatre practitioners and has shared seven productions with American audiences, including A Moon for the Misbegotten in 2007 and The Norman Conquests in 2009.
