According to Kendrick Lamar's latest video, he wants the current culture of 'Molly' hip-hop to fall by the wayside and die. MTV is reporting that Lamar has had it up to here with songs about the popular party drug.

'Molly' is a new drug that is becoming more and more popular especially in EDM, electronica and hip-hop music culture. It is a crystallized form of MDMA which is found in ecstasy pills. The drug has appeared in lyrics from rappers such as French Montana, Kanye West, Mac Miller and Trinidad James among many others.

In an interview with MTV's Sway, Kendrick was quoted: 'Sometimes you have the trends that's not that cool...You may have certain artists portraying these trends and don't really have that lifestyle and then it gives off the wrong thing. And it becomes kinda corny after a while.' He is not pointing the fingers at any artist in particular but he is voicing his frustration with the direction of this hip-hop trend.

Lamar pointed an example from his own life, stating that he remembers switching from basketball jerseys to button down shirts after Jay-Z's 2003 hit 'Change Clothes.'

He has always maintained a sense of individuality and not bowing to trends throughout his career. His hit 'Swimming Pools (Drank)', while more than likely becoming a party hit, actually lambastes alcoholism. It shows the trend that many songs take because, unfortunately, many people do not listen to the lyrics. Kendrick finishes with 'It's really about keeping hip-hop original and pushing away the corniness in it.' It is a sign that Kendrick is a true pioneer and wants to ensure hip-hop remains relevant.
