'Kelly Kinsella Live! Under Broadway' to Play FringeNYC
On Que Entertainment will present the world premiere of "Kelly Kinsella Live! Under Broadway," a new a new one-woman show with original music by Michael Holland featuring comedian, actress and singer Kelly Kinsella. Produced as part of the 11th Annual New York International Fringe Festival and directed by Antonio Merenda, the new show plays at The New School for Drama Theatre (151 Bank Street).
Writer, actress, and Broadway dresser, Kelly Kinsella, began developing the show at Ars Nova in midtown Manhattan. She has since performed it at The Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre in New York City and Los Angeles. Kinsella has been seen performing her original monologues at the bicoastal Manhattan Monologue Slam where she was declared Champion. She appeared in the New York Fringe Festival's sold out performance of Believe in Me… a Bigfoot Musical. Kinsella has appeared with Moonwork's weekly downtown series, The Adventures of Dick Danger as well as their critically acclaimed modern interpretation of Julius Caesar. Kinsella has also worked for Nickelodeon, Showtime and Disney. Her one woman show, Excuse Me, I Appear To Have Misplaced My Soul, was a sleeper hit at the Orlando Fringe Festival. She currently dresses on the 2006 Tony Award-winning Jersey Boys.
Original music and lyrics for "Kelly Kinsella Live! Under Broadway" is by composer/lyricist Michael Holland who penned 17 original songs for Believe in Me… a Bigfoot Musical. Upcoming projects include the full length musical Hurricane. He is also musical director for downtown sensation and critics' favorite Gashole, a maniacal salute to pop music. He has provided arrangements for the New York City Gay Men's Chorus, and incidental music for Playwright's Horizons, the Alley Theatre (Houston), Julliard, Rattlestick and Provincetown Rep.
The show is directed by Antonio Merenda, who received a Best Director award for Jim Gordon's Making Ends Meet from The American Globe Theater and Turnip Theater Company's 12th Annual Play Festival. Recent credits include The Long Ride Home by Robert Charles Gompers (5th Annual Fresh Fruit Festival), Women of Manhattan by John Patrick Shanley, the cabaret, Pushed, by Bilgin Turker at the D-Lounge, Work Wife by David Pumo at Wings Theater, Marital Bliss by Erik Christian Hanson and Ajax & Prozac by Craig McNulty as part of Project Playwright II at Access Theater.
